Makeblock: our take on the brand (mBot, mBot2)

Makeblock on Robot Éducatif: where mBot and mBot2 appear in our guides, strengths and limits from our pages, warranty and after-sales service.

Makeblock (mBot, mBot2, Codey Rocky, CyberPi) is the brand we cover most. Our English guides compare the mBot and mBot2 using the makers’ official specs; our hands-on French pages add day-to-day details.

Our Makeblock guides

Strengths

  • Complete robot: motors, ultrasonic sensor, line follower, lights and buzzer.
  • mBlock, close to Scratch, with plenty of tutorials.
  • Good value against pricier “school” kits; repairable and expandable.
  • A path from blocks to Python on the mBot2 (CyberPi) without changing brand.

Limits

  • Screws and cables: it is not snap-together like LEGO.
  • First Bluetooth and driver setup can take 30–90 minutes on some PCs.
  • Younger children (6–8) usually need an adult for updates and pairing.

Warranty and after-sales service

Makeblock’s official warranty (checked 23 October 2026): 12 months on electronic modules, Codey Rocky and CyberPi, 6 months on batteries, 3 months on motors; cables, mechanical parts and consumables are not covered unless received damaged. Support starts remotely (service@makeblock.com or chat) and may involve a local repair centre. Your local consumer rights still apply (in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act; check with the retailer first). Source: Makeblock warranty.
